Canada’s Les Supremes continue to show why they are the reigning World Champions as they skated their way to a new season’s best of 77.72 in the short. Skating to Love is Blindness and Blinded by Love, they demonstrated great speed and artistry. Finland’s Helsinki Rockettes put in a strong challenge and are less than 0.6 points behind with 77.37, also a new season’s best. These two teams have a reasonably healthy lead to the third place team from the United States Skyliners at 69.62 who are closely followed by Team Unique from Finland.
Only the top two teams scored seasons’ bests with a number of errors affecting the other teams. Barring any unforeseen occurrences, the medals will be decided between the top 4 teams as they compete in the free program tomorrow but the final placement is anyone’s guess.
Les Supremes Junior from Canada lead the reigning World Champions after the short program
Skating with great confidence and speed the Canadian team Les Supremes Juniorscored a new season’s best of 74.95 to lead the reigning Junior World Champions, Team Fintastic Junior from Finland by just over 2 points. Team Valley Synchro Junior, also from Finland, put in a season’s best performance to place third right on the heels of their Finnish compatriots.
Less than 2.5 points separate the first 4 teams with only 2 of the 11 teams having clear errors, more than half of the teams posted season’s best scores. The competition remains wide open as the teams go into the free skate tomorrow.
