Helsinki Rockettes rise to the challenge and take the Marie Lundmark Trophy 2024

In  a stellar performance Finland’s Helsinki Rockettes surged to a new season’s best in the free program of 157.68 points for an overall total of 235.88 and claim the title ahead of the Canadian World Champions Les Supremes. Skating with passion and great speed, they maintained tight formations and were almost flawless as they were spurred on by the support from the home crowd.

Les Supremes from Canada saw their slender lead from the short evaporate as an uncharacteristic fall early into their program put paid to any hope of capturing the title. Despite the speed and intricacy of their elements they scored 148.79 (8 points below their season’s best) and  only managed third place in the free and finished second overall, just 3 points ahead of Finland’s Team Unique.

Team Unique skated an excellent free program to post a new season’s best of 153.91 and overtake Skyliners from the United States which dropped from the podium to fourth place due to a few small errors.

The results set the stage for an exciting World Championship in Zagreb in the beginning of April.

Les Supremes Junior secure the Junior title of the Marie Lundmark Trophy 2024

Canada’s Les Supremes Junior placed second in the free program but managed to hold onto the overall lead to take the Junior title at the Marie Lundmark Trophy on Sunday. Skating their “Genius/Einstein” program they scored 122.15 points in the free program for a total of 198.65. They held off Finland’s Team Fintastic which dropped from second to third place and were 5 points below their season’s best. Meanwhile, Finland’s Valley Bay Synchro Junior put in a stunning and near perfect performance to win the free program with a new season’s best of 125.15 and move up to second place with an overall score of 197.50.

Many of the teams further down the field had errors to a greater or lesser extent and was reflected in the fact that the majority of teams were not able to improve on season’s best scores at this competition.
